Goolbee And Wali’s Wedding June 4 1950 With Nanee

Information from Mum (Goolbee).

– Bridesmaid Jamillah Omar (my sister)
– Bridesmaid Sophie Omar (daughter of R.M. Omar, my Father’s brother)
– Khadijah (Rumjahn) Omar (my Mother)
– U.M. Omar (my Father)
– Majida Omar (my sister)

Mum’s (Goolbee’s) sari was pink with gold sequins.
Bridesmaid were in blue
IM means in the intention of Allah, his nickname is Eddy.
Best man.
Best man’s best friend.
All three above were very close, like the  three musketeers.
The Islamic Canteen’s catering manager is the Best Man’s son, who he named Zaman.
The photo was taken at 207 Wanchai Road, photographer unknown.
Sophie married a Portuguese and stayed in an outlying island, only saw her her occasionally after that.  After this wedding photo she became more reclusive and wasn’t seen at functions such as weddings and funerals.
Nanee – cousin to Uncle Mudgee and related to Mohamed Rumjahn.
Kids – don’t know who they are.
U.M. Omar – means Usuff.
All the Omars were well known in sports – A.M. Omar (Andy, Uncle Andy), O.M. Omar (Osman aka Choppy because of his pockmarks)…

Some of the Rumjahns left Hong Kong and settled in Malaysia.

Uncle Mudgee – name was Abdul Rumjahn. “Mudgee” was a nickname.
Aunty Letty said when he was in UK, and in the passport office, and they called him out, two people came forward with Abdul Rumjahns, distantly related. The two did not know they existed.

Their father was Mahomet Omar
Born in India.
Came as a watchman.
Embraced Islam.
Married and had 8 children.
U.M. Omar’s Dad, Goolbee Omar’s grandfather.
U.M. Omar – Whistled the tune K K Katy when passing her (Khadija’s) house when courting her.
